Each year, Up & At ‘Em Inc. recognizes an individual(s) in our community to serve as the Grand Marshal of the annual Johnson City Turkey Trot that takes place on Thanksgiving Day.
Following are the rules and nomination form for the “Grand Marshal of the Johnson City Turkey Trot.” The winner will be notified Thanksgiving week with the official announcement from stage on Thanksgiving Day prior to the annual 5k race.
ELIGIBILITY
The Nominee should reflect the mission of Up & At ‘Em:
It is the goal of Up & At ‘Em Inc. to encourage, promote, and support the general fitness and health of our entire community with emphasis placed on the youth programs, so that the community well-being is enhanced.
The Nominee should have participated in at least one Turkey Trot in previous years.
The Nominee should be a role model for all citizens based on his or her actions in the community.
The Nominee should be someone who goes above and beyond.
There is no age restriction for a nominee.
He or she must be able to attend this year’s Turkey Trot.
PROCEDURE
A. Nominations are due online or via mail by 8 a.m. on November 17, 2023.
B. Official Nomination Form must be included.
C. The person selected to be the Grand Marshal will be notified by an Up & At’ Em board member or staff of our management team, The Goose Chase, to ensure attendance at the Turkey Trot to be held on Thanksgiving Day.
JUDGING
Selection committee will be comprised of board members and event staff.
The committee reserves the right to determine additional persons for consideration.
This designation is intended to recognize an individual who is an exemplary citizen who actively works to improve our community.
There is no monetary award for this recognition.
The Grand Marshal will lead the Johnson City Turkey Trot that will take place on Thanksgiving morning. The race begins 8:30 a.m. with the Opening Ceremony beginning shortly after 8 a.m.
